Last week the 12th International Conference on Southern Hemisphere Meteorology and Oceanography was held over 5 days at UNSW, in conjunction with the 25th annual conference of the Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society. There were around 600 attendees, with many student presentations.

EIS and Physics doctoral student Elisa Jager, member of the fledgling climatology research group at UOW, took out the award for the best oral presentation by a student for her talk on “Investigating Australian Temperature Distributions using Record breaking Statistics and Quantile Regression.” Elisa has worked extremely hard over the first two years of her PhD.

Congratulations Elisa!
