Attendance at International Conference on Materials and Reliability (ICMR2017) International Conference on Quality, Reliability, Risk, Maintenance, and Safety Engineering (QR2MSE 2017)
October 24-27, 2017, Chengdu, Sichuan, China

This is a guest post and part of our ongoing Student Life series
I had submitted a paper to a conference overseas and the original idea was for my supervisor to travel and provide a presentation. However, due to university commitments, it was decided I should go and present the paper.

Arrival at Chengdu

I took an early flight via Cathay Pacific from Sydney to Hong Kong arriving approximately 18:00 hours in Hong Kong and then trying to locate the flight via Cathay Dragon to Chengdu. I arrived at Chengdu at approximately 22:00 hours. Not sure what to do, I took a taxi to the Hotel.

Day 1 in Chengdu

Through my supervisors I had made contact with conference organisers who are part of the University of Electronic Science and Technology (UESTC). I was able to spend the day at the university talking to students and seeing how student life is at this university.

Day 2-4 Conference

In conclusion, I enjoyed the experience of a lifetime. I would like to thank my supervisors for making this possible (Richard Dwight and Tieling Zhang) and for Tieling Zhang and Anna Mitropoulos for helping with all of the complicated details in a short period of time.
