One of the originators of the Digital Living Lab in Wollongong is co-hosting the inaugural Internet of Industrial Materials Conference.

The conference offers Australian entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and executives with opportunities to learn about the commercial potential that graphene delivers in realising the Internet of Things (IoT).

Associate Professor Robert Gorkin, ‘Graphene is an enabling material that has the potential to change the way we interact with products around us. By making new conductive composites in existing products, it enables new ways to create low-cost widely deployable sensors which communicate data.’

Australia is at the leading edge of developing scalable manufacturing of advanced materials that can be used for applications making mining safer, smarter roads and cars, more efficient supply chains and increasing preventative maintenance in industry.

Associate Professor Gorkin, who is also a co-founder of the conference sponsor Imagine Intelligent Materials, noted the conference aims to deliver actionable insights for the role of graphene in global supply chains, to identify the pull markets and the skills needed for manufacturing over the next decade
