This is a guest post and part of our ongoing Student Life series
I am very glad to attend the international conference, the 15th conference on Electrorheological (ER) fluids and Magnetorheological (MR) suspensions.

This conference holds every two years. It is the most important conference in my research area, MR technique, around the world.

During the conference, 82 oral presentations have been done; 103 posters have been presented; and 12 plenary speakers have reported their up to date research work.
On behalf of UOW, I presented an oral presentation in the conference. Its title is ‘An experimental study on MR semi-active suspension’. I reported my recent research result in semi-active suspension control, including test-rig setup and control strategy design.

After listening all the presentations, I think the report of Prof. Wenwei Jia is the most informative one. In the report, a kind of smart glass which is using ER material was presented. It can change visibility in seconds depending on the specific illumination intensity. Therefore, this technique can be applied in many places, which are sensitive to illumination intensity.

I think the most inspiring speaker is Professor Weihua Li. During his presentation, many vivid examples and MR applications were demonstrated.

I am really appreciating my supervisor Professor Weihua Li, and the school of Mechanical, Materials and Mechatronic Engineering for giving me this opportunity to attend this conference!
